PiReader is an open-source handheld assistant for the visually impaired, based on Raspberry Pi and OpenCV. The aim of the project is to build a robust platform for community development, equipped with the essential hardware components and programs to implement test recognition and speech generation to assist visually impaired people with their daily lives. Currently, the project is in pre-alpha development stages, basic functionalities are implemented and the development environment is designed for future community development.
